About Me
How do you feel when you’re out in nature? Does it inspire you? Refresh you? Leave you in awe? It does all of that for me and it’s what drives me to get out and discover the magic of nature. I create photographs that reflect that wonder and beauty. When I’m focusing in on the details of nature, I highlight the elements that might be overlooked by a casual glance. I stop that moment in time when a bee gathers pollen from a flower, golden ginkgo leaves blanket a garden, a frozen dew drop sparkles on a spider’s web.
Growing up first in Arizona and then Southern California, I spent many weekends and summers in the outdoors. Hikes in the desert gave me an appreciation of beauty where you didn’t think it could be found. It also gave me an eagle eye to watch out for rattlesnakes and Gila monsters. That watchfulness helped me see the easily overlooked: tiny flowers growing an inch from the ground; volcanic glass in amongst the desert sand; small harmless lizards darting through the boulders. In California, the beach and the mountains were my playgrounds, where I continued my adventures in the outdoors: collecting and inspecting shells and sand dollars on the beach; bringing bags of pinecones of all shapes and sizes home to examine; touching and feeling the different bark of the pine trees. Did you know that Ponderosa pines smell like vanilla or butterscotch? All of these experiences first ignited and then deepened my curiosity and love of the outdoors and nature.
Now, living in the Willamette Valley of Oregon, the beach, valleys, mountains and forests surround me and offer almost unending opportunities to continue my passion of capturing the awe and inspiration I find in nature. I create and share my unique vision of nature beyond the casual glance and the magic that is found there so that I can give you that sense of awe inside your home every day.
